Man to face court following seizure of millions of dollars in cash and drugs
Date: 28/02/2009

A man will face court today after police raided a Darling Point apartment, seizing a fortune in cash and cocaine, during a crackdown on street-level drug distribution in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Just before 5pm on Thursday (26 February), officers from the Rose Bay Local Area Command and Redfern Region Enforcement Squad executed a search warrant on the unit in Sutherland Crescent.

Police allegedly located more than $1.3 million in cash along with around 7.7kg of cocaine.

Detectives allege the cocaine has an estimated potential street value of $2 million.

The scene was sealed for forensic examination and the cash and drugs seized.

About 9am yesterday (Friday 27 February) police arrested a 36-year-old man.

The man was charged with supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug and dealing with the proceeds of crime. He is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.

The man is already facing five counts of supplying a prohibited drug and two counts of goods in custody following his arrest on Thursday (26 February) during police raids at Paddington and Enmore.

A second man, aged 32 from Mascot, was also arrested and charged with possessing a prohibited drug.

He was granted strict conditional bail and ordered to appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 18 March 2009.

Police are continuing their investigations and anyone with information about the matters is urged to contact Rose Bay Police on (02) 9362 6399 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
