Man charged over Yagoona shooting

Police from Bankstown have charged a man in relation to a shooting incident on Monday in which a man suffered a gunshot wound to his hand.
About 1am on 23 February, a 42-year-old man was sitting in his car on Brancourt Avenue, near the intersection of the Hume Highway at Yagoona, when a man approached the car allegedly armed with a firearm.
Several shots were fired striking the other man’s arm.
The injured man drove from the scene to Bankstown Police Station where an ambulance was called.
He was taken to hospital and underwent surgery.
Following a number of leads detectives yesterday arrested a 25-year-old man at Bankstown.
He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with shoot with intent to murder, discharge a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and drive while disqualified.
The Condell Park man was refused bail and is due to appear in Bankstown Local Court on 2 March.
