Police investigate commercial fire – Wollongong

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a large commercial fire that caused huge structural damage and destroyed stock in the State’s south last night.
About 6.50pm witnesses heard an alarm go off at the building on the Princes Highway in Fairymeadow and saw a man run down the driveway of the business, before driving away in a silver Suzuki.
The witnesses then phoned Triple Zero and officers attached to Wollongong Local Area Command and local NSW Fire Brigades fire fighters attended the scene.
No persons were at the premise at the time.
Wollongong detectives, police forensic experts and fire investigation experts are investigating the cause of the blaze.
Fire fighters worked for several hours to contain the main blaze and were still tending to small smouldering sections early this morning.
All four lanes of the Princes Highway were blocked until midnight.
