Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a man over a cash-in-transit van armed robbery at Guildford, in Sydney’s west, last year.
About 1pm on Monday 8 September a red Nissan Pulsar containing four men pulled up behind a cash-in-transit van at a Guildford shopping centre.
Two masked men got out of the vehicle and threatened the two guards, stealing their firearms and a quantity of cash.
No shots were fired and nobody was injured in the incident.
Following inquiries by Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives, as part of Strike Force Brittania, a 22-year-old man was arrested in an Auburn street shortly before 2.30pm yesterday.
He was questioned at Auburn Police Station and charged last night with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.
The Auburn man was refused bail and is due to appear in Burwood Local Court today.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
