Police operation concludes — Westmead
Date: 24/02/2009
A police operation lasting more than four hours has concluded without incident this evening, with a woman being taken to hospital for assessment.
Police were called to Bridge Road about 7pm after receiving reports of a 52-year-old woman threatening self harm.
The woman was located sitting on a small platform stemming from the bridge and above a railway line.
Police negotiators spent the evening speaking with the woman, who returned to the bridge about 11.15pm and was subsequently taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital for assessment.
During the operation police from the Holroyd and Parramatta Local Area Commands established diversions for motorists.
The railway line between Granville and Blacktown was also closed and alternative transport arrangements put in place for commuters.
Police would like to thank road and rail commuters for their patience and understanding throughout the operation.
