Police operation; rail and road commuters urged to be patient — Westmead

Evening rail and road commuters are being urged to remain patient while a police operation continues on a bridge in Westmead this evening.
Police were called to Bridge Road about 7pm after receiving reports of a woman threatening self harm.
A woman was located sitting on a small platform stemming from the bridge and above a railway line.
Police from the Holroyd and Parramatta Local Area Commands are at the scene, with local traffic diversions in place while the operation is ongoing.
Bridge Road is closed between Byrne Street and Alexandra Avenue. Diversions are also in place at the corner of Hawkesbury Road and Alexandra Avenue.
The railway line between Granville and Blacktown has also been closed and alternative transport arrangements have been made for commuters, who are being urged to remain patient.
Specialist officers, including Negotiators and Police Rescue, are at the scene and police are speaking with the woman.
