Man charged with historic sexual offences — Hornsby

Detectives from the Kuring Gai Local Area Command have charged a man in relation to alleged historic child sex offences at a private school in Sydney’s northern suburbs.
The former teacher was arrested at Wahroonga about 8.15am today and taken to Hornsby Police Station to assist with inquiries into incidents which are alleged to have occurred between 1976 and 1990.
The 59-year-old man was charged this afternoon with two counts of indecent assault on male and two counts of assault and commit act of indecency.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Hornsby Local Court today, when he was granted conditional bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 7 April 2009.
This morning’s arrest forms part of Strike Force Arika, which is an ongoing investigation by police into allegations of historical sexual assaults at the northern suburbs private school.
Police are urging anyone with information relevant to Strike Force Arika to contact Kuring Gai Local Area Command via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
