Police charge teenager over bus driver assault – Willoughby
Date: 24/02/2009

Police investigating an assault on a bus driver on Sydney’s North Shore have charged a teenager for allegedly concealing the offence.

About 5.35pm on Monday (16 February), a man and woman entered a northbound bus on Willoughby Road, Willoughby, near the Garland Street intersection.

It is alleged the man, armed with a screwdriver, threatened the female bus driver before splashing blood from a wound on his finger on her. He then allegedly told the driver he was infected with a communicable disease.

The man and woman then fled the bus.

It’s believed the same pair was also involved in an earlier incident on another bus in which a window on that vehicle was smashed.

Police from North Shore Local Area Command were alerted to both incidents and yesterday charged the teenager with concealing an indictable offence.

She was given bail and will appear in Hornsby Local Court on the 9 April, 2009.

Police continue their investigation.
