Drowning death of two-year-old boy – Charlestown

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a two-year-old boy overnight at Charlestown, south of Newcastle.
About 7:15pm ambulance officers were called after the boy was found by a family member in a backyard pool of a premises in Kalora Crescent.
The boy was rushed to John Hunter Hospital but died a short time later.
Police from the Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attended the premises and conducted inquiries.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
