Date: 20/11/2008
An elderly man will appear in court next month charged over a shooting incident south of Newcastle.
The 80-year-old man was arrested at a house in Sapphire Close, Caves Beach, about 4.30pm yesterday (Thursday 20 November) after allegedly firing a pistol during a neighbourhood dispute.
Police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command, who responded to the incident, have been told the man allegedly discharged two shots through the front security door of a nearby home during an argument with the male occupant.
The alleged victim was uninjured in the incident and managed to wrestle the firearm from the elderly man.

The man was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He’s been granted strict conditional bail to appear in Belmont Local Court on 4 December 2008.
