Three adults and infant injured in single-vehicle crash - Hunter region

Police in the Hunter region are investigating the cause of a single-vehicle crash near Wallarobba, that’s left three adults and an infant injured.
At 3.25pm yesterday (Tuesday 18 November), emergency services responded to reports a Holden Apollo station wagon had left the roadway and crashed into trees on Dungong Road, about 2km south of the Clarencetown Road intersection.
The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old Banden Grove man, and the front seat passenger, a 21-year-old Wallarobba man, suffered minor injuries in the crash and were taken by ambulance to Maitland Hospital for treatment.
A 20-year-old Banden Grove woman and a five-month-old girl, both believed to have been unrestrained, were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
The woman sustained only bruising, cuts and abrasions in the incident; however, the baby girl suffered a fractured skull. Both were flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
The infant remains in a serious but stable condition in intensive care this morning.
Police from Port Stephens Local Area Command and the Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit responded to the incident.
Dungog Road was closed for about six hours to allow crash investigators to carry out their examination of the scene. They are continuing their inquiries to determine the cause of the crash.
