Teen fighting for her life after being thrown from 4WD - Stockton Beach

Police have charged a p-plate driver with drink-driving after a teenager fell from a moving four wheel drive overnight at Stockton Beach, north of Newcastle.
Around 11.55 last night, the 16-year-old female victim, from Raymond Terrace, was one of a number of passengers travelling in the rear of the vehicle on Birubi Beach, Anna Bay.
The girl was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious head injuries.
Police were called and conveyed ambulance paramedics to the scene in a four-wheel drive.
The teenager was airlifted by the local Westpac rescue helicopter to the intensive care unit of Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
The 17-year-old male driver, from Woodberry, allegedly submitted a blood alcohol reading of point-oh-eight-five (0.085).
He has been charged with mid-range drink-driving and has been ordered to appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court on 24 November.
