Man arrested after ‘glassing’ incident – Lake Macquarie
Date: 4/10/2008
Police from the Lake Macquarie Local Area Command have charged a man after a glassing incident at a hotel in Warners Bay overnight.
About 11.45pm on Friday 3 October, a 20-year-old Argenton man and a 22-year-old Eleebana man were drinking with separate groups of friends at a hotel on Lake Road.
A short time later an argument has occurred between the two near the smoking room of the premises.
The argument has escalated into a physical brawl with the younger man getting struck with a schooner glass on the left side of his face causing a severe facial laceration.
As a result the older man was detained by other patrons and police were informed.
The man was arrested, treated for a hand injury and taken to Belmont Police Station where he was later charged with malicious wounding with intent.
He has been granted bail to appear at the Belmont Local Court on 23 October.
The injured man was conveyed to John Hunter Hospital where he will undergo surgery this morning.
Inquiries into the matter continue.
