Police investigate suspicious death - Rutherford

Police have renewed an appeal for public assistance following the death of a man after an incident in the state’s Lower Hunter region.
About 5.30pm on Saturday (18 August 2007), a 56-year-old man was allegedly involved in altercations with other males at various locations in Rutherford.
The man was later found on a footpath and ambulance officers attended.
The 56-year-old was taken to Maitland Hospital and later transferred to John Hunter Hospital where he underwent surgery.
The man died at about 12.05am today (Friday 24 August 2007).
Strike Force Neagle has been formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s injury and death, which is being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
